Smart Chap

My older brat, is a smart cookie. Now this I say with a large degree of pride and a whole lot of 

exasperation His was a long awaited arrival, one that took us through a lot of highs and lows. One that I

am ever thankful for.  So here’s one that is dedicated to him.  

These are a few conversations that I have had with my 8 year old 

QUIZ 

Abraham, “Who made the airplane?  

Options - The Wright Brothers, The Wrong Brothers or The Confused Brothers” 

 

JUNK 

Abraham holding a bunch of cloth tags, " ama, these tags look interesting, can I keep them?"  

Me, "Aben, they are just junk. Why do you want to keep them?"  

Abraham, " ama, don't you know, one person's junk is another person's treasure."  

Ah well, he can keep the tags I suppose... *sigh* 

 

HEALTHY PIZZA 

 

Who says pizza is junk food? Pizza has tomatoes... coz of the ketchup, that's healthy, it has capsicum 

and olives that's healthy too, as they are vegetables, it has chicken and it has cheese, which is made 

from milk. So pizza is healthy... Anyone wants to dispute this? 

 

INDIANS ARE KIND 

Abraham, “ ama, do u know? y Satish sir is very nice, he always feels sad for us when we can’t play.” 

Me, “Oh! That's nice” 

Abraham, “Indians are like that” 

Me *shocked! Thinking, now where did that come from*, “Why do u say that Aben?” 

Aben looking at me like I cannot comprehend something so simple, with his most patient - speaking to a 

toddler tone – “ mama, others are also like that, but Indians are more like that, they feel sad when they 

see other people sad. Why? Haven’t you noticed that?” 

Dazed n shocked now, what can you possibly say to that 

GIRLFRIENDS AND BOYFRIENDS 

Loving is not just between girlfriends and boyfriends it is all about caring about someone. It does not 

matter if it’s between boys and boys, girls and girls or girls and boys.
